After a small hiccup involving Bifferboards and returns policies, which I shan't go into, I ended up acquiring a Nokia IP130.
These beasts were surprisingly popular back in the day, and can now be acquired from eBay for £35 (or less). The sad thing is, usually they don't come with RAM or a Hard Disk.
First off, a few specs for the IP130 (the 120 seems to be much the same, but has built-in RAM):

In the first post of the summer, I'm going to reveal a few interesting features that exist in jQuery and jQueryUI, which I've been using quite extensively recently.
The first of these features is jQueryUI's dialogs and the "position" attribute.
The jQueryUI docs say:

QT, the giant user interface (and seemingly everything else) library from Nokia, can, and I emphasise can be great to work with.
However on this occaision that proved not to be so.
CSLib, the Computer Science Library (aka "All the software helpdesk won't support") has been one of my pet projects this year, and I figured it was time to overhaul the cslib build process. cslib-pkg was born.
Admittedly, some have said it's like more porting ports, and to an extent it is,

So, everybody loves Internet Explorer, right?
Not so if your a web developer. Internet Explorer 8 (which would like to try and pretend it can pass Acid3 with just 20/100) in its infinate wisdom, decides to follow your instructions to the letter.
Firefox, on the other hand, sees your instructions and does a bit of LaTEX-style processing on them, and declares "I know best about (whatever)".

That's how long I've left readers hanging, and I feel bad about it!
A lot happened, but I haven't had time to write about it.
Today's blog post is very geeky. It's all about mod_auth_sspi for Apache 2.0 and higher (Windows only).

The ZyXEL P660-HW router has a nice feature that allows you to turn on NAT loopback. I want this to always be on! The default is off on a reboot.
Enter "sys edit" a primitive editor living under Menu 24, submenu 8 of the telnet admin interface.
Log in, drop to a command shell and type
sys edit autoexec.net
Keep hitting N(ext) until you see "EOF" appear. You've found the line to insert after.

Explaining the title of this post isn't exactly difficult. I was recabling a data point in my room to be 1 data, 1 phone. Great, until you realise there's three cable where there should be two.

I can only say one thing about Windows Server 2003 - HUH!?
Allow me to explain this.
In short, there's a couple of things about Windows Server that are downright annoying.
Windows Firewall
Although not enabled by default, once enabled, bye bye domain. Yes, oddly enough, Microsoft programs seem to be unable to register themselves in the firewall (which I can do in a batch script using netsh). To add to that, enabling Windows Firewall (which made sense) without having added the right ports to it will, almost predictably, crash any domain you have running.

WOW! CES 2009, we're there already. Steve's in charge, and apparently, the 3 screens we use most, TV, PC/laptop and phone are going to seamlessly become one.
I'm not sure what to make of it. The Windows Logo has spuriously gone 3D, in a nice way. The videos make extensive use of flying Windows Logo and Xbox controllers, which I have to say didn't impress me much, since the Xperia, Omnia, Touch Pro, and Touch HD are pretty much already out in the UK.

So, Microsoft politely tell us that XP Media Center Edition cannot be joined to a domain.
Hardly a likely story, since it's based on XP Professional.
As I just proved, thanks to VMWare, it is possible to join XP MCE to a domain, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out how.
Here's how to do it (clean install method):
